A gift for Valentine’s Day is not always easy, and personally, I hate the whole gift list on whatever website thing. I mean, they picked the gifts on the list, so they are going to know what it is right? Unless you’re a person with control issues, what’s the fun in that?
I’ve come up with a few ideas here that may help you in your quest for the perfect gift. No matter what a person's taste, there’s something out there that they will love.
For those who want to DIY it
Not everyone has spare cash to spend on gifts, so why not try some do-it-yourself ideas? One thing that almost every person says yes to is a good massage. And I’m not talking about a fluffy, play around kinda thing, but an actual good-for-you massage. Massage is great for circulation and helps to remove toxins. You can take a piece of paper and draw your own ‘massage coupon’, that your partner can use at their leisure. Here is a great article and video that shows how to perform a Swedish Circulatory Massage, and the various techniques involved.
Another idea would be to recreate a favorite restaurant meal. Many chefs are happy to give recipes to customers when they know it’s for a special occasion, and your partner will be impressed that you took the time to do something for them that they love.
For those who have a bit of cash to spend for Valentine’s Day, here are a few ideas that are a little out of the ordinary.
For the animal lover
The World Wildlife Fund helps endangered animals with donations that support science, research, and animal study. You can donate and symbolically adopt a wide variety of animals. You will be sent an adoption certificate, a plush animal, and other items depending on the size of your donation.
For the food lover
UncommonGoods.com has you covered with an awesome variety of food gifts, such as a Gourmet Oil Dipping Spice Kit and a Make Your Own Hot Sauce Kit. They also have a great selection of kitchen tools and bar accessories.
For the person who loves to tinker
How about a watchmaking kit? Or a knife making kit? Or an arcade game making kit? Head over to Mancrates.com and check out their selection of kits for the maker in your life. Sausage making? They have it. Lure making, Got that too. You can even build your own barrel smoker!
For the mystery lover
I used to love the game Clue when I was a kid. And now at CrateJoy.com, they have a monthly subscription to the Deadbolt Mystery Society! Each month you receive a new mystery to solve which you can play alone, or with a group of up to four people. Each story is stand-alone and doesn’t need the other boxes to be completed (although it does require a QR code reader).
For the Sage in your life
How about a brain-sensing headband? The Muse 2 gives you real-time biofeedback during your meditation sessions, allowing you to see how you respond to your meditations and improve your meditation practice.
Giving your partner something unusual for Valentine’s Day will show them that you listen when they talk about what they like (just as you would expect them to do for you). No matter what type of partner you have, there’s bound to be an idea here that they will love for Valentine’s Day or any day!
